Quo Vadis
QUO VADIS | 1990
The post-revolution Trabant on four legs is a memento of 1989. Many East Germans were leaving for the West at the time and their temporary asylum was the building of the FRG Embassy. More than 4,000 of them were made and many of them left their Trabant cars behind.
The original sculpture is installed in Leipzig. In Prague, you can only see the casting, which was initially installed on Staroměstské náměstí and transferred to the gardens of the FRG Embassy in Prague in 2001.
There is no direct access to the sculpture, but it is visible from behind the fence from the direction of the Petříny Gardens.
Did you know that...
David Černý borrowed money from his father to make the Trabant. He purchased a car from the proceeds from sale of this sculpture … .
