VÁCLAV HAVEL MEMORIAL PLAQUE | 2012

A memorial to President Václav Havel can be found on the wall of Divadlo na zábradlí theatre, where Havel worked as a stagehand, actor, dramaturge, secretary for drama and playwright. The plaque shows an ashtray with cigarette butts, two glasses and a pencil, with a miniature bust of Havel on its end in place of an eraser.   

Did you know that…

David Černý designed this bronze plaque without requiring royalties? Its production was funded from donations by dozens of small donors. So much money was collected that in the end the theatre had to refuse further donations.
